The label is read on your device (nothing is uploaded anywhere), the manufacturer, ratings and model numbers are extracted, and you get ranked replacement options — with obsolete-platform alerts, one-click component BOM teardowns for parent assemblies, and a straight path into the PCB Builder when it's a board.
1 · Add photos
Nameplates, rating labels, stampings, PCB silkscreen — the sharper and flatter the label, the better the read. On a phone, "Take photo" opens the camera.
2 · Read the label
On-device OCR (loads a ~3 MB engine on first use). You can also skip the photo and type whatever you can read off the part.
3 · Matches
Add a photo or type the label text, then hit Identify part. Results show replacement options, EOL alerts, BOM teardowns, and PCB routing.
How this works & what's next: identification runs entirely in your browser — OCR reads the label, and the text is matched against 236 part families, 21 obsolete-platform records, and 22 OEM lines. Photos never leave your device. Roadmap: when a vision backend is configured (README §11), bare-part photos — no label needed — will be recognized directly, parent assemblies will auto-expand into their component BOMs, and photographed boards will pre-fill the PCB Builder. The hooks are already in place.
